Chris and Layla popped down to the Old Possum Creek Schoolhouse in the middle of the week and said Heck YES to marrying their best mate. The reasons to have a midweek wedding are all the great ones – more vendor availability, cheaper and the most relaxed vibe ever. These two had the most gorgeous day thanks to Layla’s amazing cousin spending the morning putting together the lush florals that you’re going to see. Seriously stunning!
There are so many great stories about this day – from Layla’s grandma loving ham (and being fed by her grandson!) to last minute nerves resulting in nervously drinking the last of the champagne before the ceremony. Chris is from England, so his family travelled out to Australia for the first time and it was amazing seeing the bond between the families grow. That right there? That’s the good stuff.
For portraits, we spent about half an hour just wandering around the property to the gorgeous road side with that epic avenue of old trees. The Old Possum Creek Schoolhouse really gave us a variety of beautiful spots within an easy distance so Chris and Layla could spend more time with their guests than driving to portrait locations. Being in walking distance of the party is always the best!
Chris and Layla’s guests were totally treated to a sumptuous dinner catered by one of the local Byron Bay caterers. Sitting down to their meal with the beautiful garland of flowers in the middle of the table provided the guests with a true experience of the best of Byron Bay life and kicked off what must have been a memorable evening!
